The Arkansas Food Innovation Center (AFIC) provides training for food entrepreneurs and others interested in safe food processing. A link or contact person is given for more information about each training.

2016 Training Event
Nov. 1-3 Better Process Control School, Arkansas Union, University of Arkansas. Two types of certification are offered in this course and the length of training varies with the type of certification being sought. All course participants must complete the Acidified Food Certification portion of the course. Those wishing to also obtain Low-Acid Certification complete an additional 1.5 days of training. On-going Good Manufacturing Practices - Participation in this training session is a requirement for all those processing product in the AFIC facility. For specific dates and more information on these session contact AFIC.


2015 Workshops Plan. Produce. Profit. workshop series - A series of workshops designed to help participants learn how to produce food products for the local food system were held in early 2015. Workshops included:
  • Workshop 1: Starting a Food Processing Business offered January 29 or 31, 2015. Recordings of the workshop presentations are avaiable. Click here to view recordings of the workshop presentations.
  • Workshop 2:Guide to Starting a Food Processing Business was held February 21, 2015 from 8 am to 5 pm.
  • Participants in Workshop 2 were offered the opportunity to apply for Workshop 3: Starting Your Food Processing Business. Those accepted for this Workshop are working with AFIC staff to develop a product and move it to market.
